In Pursuit of God #2

PURPOSE

Hello people :)

Hope you are having a good day.

Today, we'll be talking about Moses.

Ex 2: "11And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.12And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. 13And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow? 14And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.15Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well."

Growing up as a boy  Moses probably had heard a lot of prophecies about himself. Maybe someone said "I see the star in your future you'll be a deliverer" Or maybe he was told "your birth was no ordinary one, you'll be great in the future. One day you'll come and save us from this oppression."

Well whatever you might have heard or known about yourself and your future, Moses shows us that if you go ahead of the One who gives the vision you'll end up in a rot. (Read post -"Timing")

So Moses ended up in the wilderness but he was still in God's plan. Your mistake doesn't take you away from the thought of God. The devil lies when he tells you constantly that God will not forgive you. If you're willing to come back to Him, and walk with Him, He's willing to take you back.

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

He's bound by His Word. Hallelujah!. He cannot lie.

So Moses was tending his father in-law's sheep when he had an encounter with God.

God shows us something here. Ex 3:4 "And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I."

The burning bush was like a bait. To see if Moses would get interested and come. When God saw that he got interested, He called him out of that situation to reveal Himself to him.

God places such  baits in our lives. It may not be a burning bush that is not consumed. Nonetheless it is something to make us interested in knowing Him. However most times we just overlook it, maybe get a little excited from a distance and run to tell others about the miracle He has done, but we never come close to Him to see; To know; What (Who) made this thing happen.

This happened in the case of Mary and Martha. Martha met Jesus and after a rather perfunctory conversation ran to call her sister even when she was not told to call her. She didn't press further. Mary on the other hand came and cried to the master and He was moved  and He responded. (John 11:20-35).

If God sees you're willing to come to Him, He'll come to you. If He sees you're crazy about Him, He'll be crazy about you. If you're  consumed by His work, He'll consume everything you own.

Moses was a man with many faults. But the good news is that when God says you're my man for this job, it is not because of what you can do but what He can do through you.

Your faults notwithstanding, when God calls you to be His, it is for a special purpose. Remember, the purpose of the object determines its design. So your physical faults notwithstanding, you're perfect for the job God has given you. Just keep trusting Him knowing that His strength is made perfect in your weakness.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for I know I was made with a purpose specifically designed by you. Help me not to go ahead of you and cause me to seek you in all I do. In the Name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Thank you.
