GOD IS ABLE

Image
Joshua 1:8 ‘This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful’. God still works. I’ll  begin with that. You know in our day a lot of things are happening.  People are asking questions that they are not getting answers to. Is there really a God? Does He really care about us? Why are things the way they are? ... The situation is not even made better with people rising up and saying they are from God when they are not, adding more confusion to the already confused people (Thank God for the good ones we have). Well I tell you from my experience and that of some others I know that there is a God and He is the ONLY God, but let me leave my experiences aside and see what the WORD says: When Moses was about to go, God gave him this commandment/instructi

READING AND STUDYING

Image
Now more than ever I believe everyone should begin to have a personal revelation of God. You know, it’s exciting when you know God for yourself. You have this Father- son/ daughter relationship that will be exclusive to you. When you come to church, it won’t be as though the Pastor was speaking a foreign language to you; You can understand better and connect easier because you have a personal relationship with God. Scriptures tell us in Matt 24:4-5 “Jesus answered, “Be careful that no one misleads you [deceiving you and leading you into error].  For many will come in My name[misusing it, and appropriating the strength of the name which belongs to Me], saying, ‘I am the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed),’ and they will mislead many.” God, however, does not leave us on our own, He gives us tools for us to know the whims of the devil and be able to resist them. The fundamental tool God has given to us is found in the Book of Daniel. Dan 11: 32 With smooth words [of flattery and pr

On Marriage #3... and Everything Else

Image
So today I’ll be talking to those who want to know God’s principles and live by them and those who would want to make that decision to walk with Him. It is wisdom to seek  God’s counsel first before embarking on ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING including marriage. Why? Have you ever tried going to Jamaica on your own before maybe in your car? Ridiculous right. Do you even know your way to Jamaica? So what do you do? You enter into a plane that has a pilot who knows the way. Same as your marriage. Have you been on that journey before? You need someone who knows the way. Don’t make hasty decisions because you think you don’t have time. It's better to spend some months in prayer and get clarity than for you to spend 75 years confused and running around looking for a solution. It may be difficult and you’ll need Spirit Power, but don’t make any decision in the heat of the moment because you think you might never get a better opportunity. Seek God’s advice. Seek His opinion first, before

EVERLASTING LOVE

Image
I know sometimes we associate Love with the ‘Grace era': ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son'.  But if you carefully read through the Old Testament you’ll find the love of God more clearly and openly expressed to those even under the Law.  Our greatest declarations from God concerning His love for us can be found in the Old Testament.   1.    The LORD appeared to me (Israel) from ages past, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving-kindness, I have drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you'.(Jer 31:3) 2.    The Songs of Solomon tells of a Lover’s (God) quest for His lover (us) 3.    “I have loved you,” says the LORD. But you say, “How and in what way have You loved us?” “Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the LORD. “Yet I loved Jacob (Israel)” (Mal1:2) 4.     “For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt [to the Babylonians] as your ransom, Cush

The Force of Love

Image
THE FORCE OF LOVE Disclaimer: this post is mere theories and principles if you don’t have the Holy Spirit interpreting it to you. What is love?   Love is what makes the world go round. It is the foundation of the world. Love (or lack of it) is the reason for what is happening around us. Today I’ll be talking about the Force of Love; (the power of Love). Love is the very nature of God. Now love (agape), according to the Bible is not emotions or affections. Love is deliberating choosing to do God’s will. Love is like faith or hope; it needs work for you to grow in love. There are two aspects of Love according to Scriptures; Love for God and Love for man. Love for God brings about love for man ‘Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him].  He who does not love has not becom

PRAISE

"With a grateful heart I lift my hands to you, proclaiming Lord you reign! Great are you Lord, You're greatly to be praised. Greatly to be praised, Father you reign"(Sinach - Great are You Lord) Praise is an act of love. Praise is meant to come from your inner being. Praise is beautiful. Praise is comely. Praise is wonderful and God inhabits (dwells in, lives in) the praise of His people. Do you want to know where God is? In the midst of the praises of His people.  Psalm 22:3 "But You are holy, O You who are enthroned in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered]." (Amp). That's where God is! Now for you to praise God, it  must be heartfelt; praise that does not just come from words of mouth alone but from your heart. Matt 15:8 "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me." (KJV). Praise is an act of worship and if we must worship Him, we must wors

Freedom

Image
2Cor 3: 17: “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” KJV “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from bondage, true freedom].” Amp This has been an issue for a while. Who is really free? What exactly does the Spirit of God liberate us from. Well let’s find the truth from the Truth ( God's WORD) 2cor 3: 14 “But [in fact] their minds were hardened [for they had lost the ability to understand];” AMP 2cor 3: 15 “But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil [of blindness] lies over their heart” AMP A veil is a covering. It is used to conceal a thing. The veil is what hinders us from the Presence of God. It makes God inaccessible. So what is this veil ( our obstruction from accessing God)? What causes this blindness and hardness of heart ? Gen 6: 3 "Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive and remain with man forever, because he is indeed flesh [sinful, corrupt—given ov

Where Should I be?

Image
Hello :) Going through God’s Word I discovered something really interesting that I would love to share with you. There was a famine in the land of Canaan and Isaac was looking for greener pastures for his livestock and The Lord appeared to him saying “Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of” Gen 26:2, KJV. He had already moved from Canaan to the land of the Philistines and God knew his next point of call would be Egypt, so He appeared to him quickly and told him, no, you’re not going to that land. My Presence won’t go there with you. That’s not where I have prepared for you. For Isaac this must have been very confusing. He was clearly in a fix and he needed a way out and here God was saying, that place you think is better, well it really isn't. So why did God not want Isaac to go down to Egypt? Previously God had appeared to Isaac’s father, Abraham and had promised to give him and his descendants that land (Canaan) to possess and God could no

I WILL WAIT ON THE LORD

Image
Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting - Joyce Meyer When everything seems to be going wrong, know that you have one who is forever by your side; Watching over you, loving you and who seeks with all His heart that you will find rest. From the little I’ve come to know about God, He will NEVER leave you, He will never forsake you. He’ll love you even as He gently takes you out of whatever situation you are in. Imagine an animal caught in a trap. If you yank it out of it, you will end up injuring it more and it may bleed to death. So what do you do? You gently take it out. You won’t waste more time than necessary because you see it is hurting. However you’ll take your time to take it out, so that no further damage will be caused. So don’t be in too much of a hurry. Allow God do His work while you patiently wait on him. So what does it mean to wait on God? Does it mean that I don’t get to do anything? I just sit at ho

When Dependence Becomes Stronger Than Independence= Zoe

Image
'Your Presence is Heaven to me' - Isreal Houghton & New Breed He's your ever present help and He loves you. “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” 2cor 12:9 We often get so preoccupied with our selves and our abilities that we think we can do all things by merely willing it (for those believe in self will and power). We have been taught from a young age that we have to be strong , independent people, or else others will take advantage of us. While these may be true in some circles, they are not in the Kingdom Of God. We cannot live a life that God will be pleased with by our own understanding. We cannot be better persons independent of God's leading and help. (I'm sure we all have at least 2 or 3 failed new year resolutions to tell of our inadequacies). He said in John 10: 27 "my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me”. We can only truly be His and live the life He w

It's Not Just About Me

Image
Hello! Hope you had a really fabulous weekend. Our discussion today is going to be about our salvation and what God requires of us afterwards. God is not just concerned about your salvation only. He wants your household too. The Lord speaks clearly of this throughout scriptures. Let’s take a look at Jesus. His mother and brethren (siblings) became disciples too. They were even with the brethren in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. Acts 1:14 “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.” Another example is that of James and John. They did not only seek the Lord, their mother joined in the pursuit. Matt 20:20 “Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.” Cornelius was another man who sought the salvation of his household too. Acts 10:1 “There was a certain man in Cæsarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band ca

Love

Image
Today we hear a lot of talk about salvation, eternal life, faith, miracles and healings (which are all really good), but we don’t get to hear a lot about love. The foundation of the Church and all Christ came to do. We remember the story of the good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). Christ was asked, what must I do to receive eternal life. He answered “what is written in the law? How do you read it?.” (This reminds me of what he said in another occasion; “have ye not read”. This is going to be the basis of our Judgement; the Scripture). The lawyer replied, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.” (Luke 10:27). Throughout Scripture, God talks about love for one another; for the needy, the poor, the orphans. In Matt. 25: 34, He gave this as the criteria for selecting the sheep from the goats ( the righteous from the unrighteous). He said ‘ 34)Then shall the Kin

Unconditional Love

Image
Jeremiah 31: 3 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.” Sometimes we think that the love of God is one sided; that He loves us when we are good, but He doesn’t when we are not. So we try to buy God's love and forgiveness by our work. When we were growing up we were taught, sometimes not directly, that apostle Paul had to suffer all he did as a believer because of his former sins. We were taught that sin is like a wound, although it heals, there will always be a scar. Well that notion has been embedded into some of us, that it becomes difficult to accept God's unconditional love. We constantly live in self doubt even after salvation, asking questions like “how can God love someone like me, after this” or “there has to be some price I must pay to truly get his love (like what Jesus did was not enough)”. Well God can, and He continues to love you. You can’t come to Christ b

Prayer

Image
I remember singing as a child “prayer is the key. Prayer is the key. Prayer is the master key. Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer. Prayer is the master key”. Oh, how true. It can open and close any door if you know how to use it. Matt 16:19 "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." One of the greatest gifts God gave to us is the ability to speak. To air out our feelings when we are hurt. We can speak out. When we are angry, when we are in need of help, we can cry out to Him. Micah 6:1 says , ‘Hear now what the LORD is saying, “Arise, plead your case before the mountains, And let the hills [as witnesses] hear your voice.” There’s the story of a little chick. One day a cat got into the poultry. It had never happened before. There was commotion as the chicks were obviously frightened, but no one could tell what

Day by Day

Image
2Cor. 3: 18 “And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.” There is a particular hymn I love so much “new every morning is thy love”. It reminds me of Lam 3:22, 23 which says “It is because of the LORD’S loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, Because His [tender] compassions never fail. 23) They are new every morning; Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.” God's mercies and anointing are designed to be new every morning. In the book of Leviticus when God was talking about the fire upon our altar, He said it is to burn daily ; Lev 6: 12 “And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.” The

The Mystery of the Broken Bread

Image
Hello! Hope you're having a good day. Today we are going to be talking about the mystery of the broken bread. John 12: 24Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." There is a reason why Christ broke the bread at the last supper before He gave it to the disciples to eat (remember the Communion we are to do in church today). Yeah, there is a reason for the breaking of the bread; matt 26:28 says "And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body". Let's go to the feeding of the five thousand for illumination on what it means. Matt 14: 15And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.16But Jesus said unto them, They ne

Foundations (The Heart)

Image
Matt 12: 34: "O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." Kjv The heart is the foundation of the human existence. Out of the abundance of it, the mouth speaks; (what your heart is filled of, that is what your life will be filled with) If your heart is good, your life will inevitably be good. Your attitude will also be good. The heart is an extension of what we see. It is the brain behind whatever character or exhibition we see. Jesus said in Matt. 7:17 "Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." What makes the tree good? The tree is good because of its root; it's foundation. So if your heart (your root) is good, you will bear good fruits. An evil tree or a bitter tree (getting bitter nutrients), cannot bear sweet fruits.

Musings of a Lover #1

Image
Hello So a while ago, something happened at home that threw almost everyone off balance. We received a particular blessing from God after much prayer. Then after a while, it got taken back. For example you were looking for a job, and after a long time of waiting in prayer, you get the job in a way that you know, God has answered. Then after a while, you receive a sack letter. Well it was not a job in this case, but something similar. I was literally heart broken, so I went back to God. You see when you go through troubles, God expects you to come to Him. Not to go away from Him. He said in Phil 4:6 "Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God." So I went back to Him. When things don't go according to how God has spoken , you have the right to go back to Him. In fact, He excepts you to. We are all in

Study!

Luke 17: 22 "And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.23And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.24For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day." God did not leave his children unprepared. He did not leave us without a witness. Are you waiting on God for anything and you have not received it yet? It might not be because it's not available, it might just be that you don't know how to get it (through His Word). God's Word is the most important part of our Faith. You can't know God if you don't know His Word. Jesus Christ is the Word  in human form.  John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1: 14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt

Finishing Strong

Image
2 Tim 4:7 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Our Christian life can be compared to a race with each individual getting his own lane. One of the features of a race is that you must reach the finishing line for you to qualify to get any prize from that race. If you don't get to the end, you can't get the reward. Likewise as Christians, if we are not for Christ, till the very end of our lives, we don't get any reward. However the stronger you finish, the higher  the prize you get. To finish strong should be the characteristic of every true believer.  Why? God said in  Job 8:7 "Though thy beginning was small,Yet thy latter end should greatly increase." (meaning as a matter of fact it ought to happen, but then that will depend on what you do). What does God expect from you then? He expects that through continuous and communal fellowship with His Holy Spirit (Him, directing, teaching and guiding you) , you ought to

Abide (Stay!)

Image
John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful." Jesus used a lot of illustrations in the days He lived on earth. Most of these illustrations had to do with farming. Farming was the major occupation in those days , so He used something they could easily relate with. Once they knew what the symbols meant, they could understand better what He was saying. Jesus likens himself to a vine; His Father the Gardener; and we are the branches. A vine (Jesus) is a climbing plant, with weak stems ( branches) (you). The stems need support for them to grow effectively and bear fruits. It is the duty of the gardener (God) to provide support for the vine stem(you) when it is still tender. As it begins to shoot out , it will  have something to lean on, so it can move forward and have enough space to find expression. It keeps twining till

Timing

Image
Ever wondered why Jesus kept telling the people he healed to tell no one about their healing. Then it seemed like all of a sudden He went all out with the triumphal entry. That day everyone knew He was in town - Timing luke 8:56 "And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done." Matt 8:4 "And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them." Time and time again He would tell them to keep shut about His miracles (although they didn't). He would refuse to  go to certain places. When the Jews were looking from Him to crucify him, he departed from the city (although that was why He came in the first place). His reason? "my time is not yet come" (John 7:6) Christ was literally in hiding most of the time till the time came for his showing forth and when it did, it was grand. You see if Christ had appeare

#Confessions From a young age , kids usually know what they want to be when they grow older. Well, I did too then. However two years to graduation from university (college) I didn’t know my path in life. I know most people have that dilemma (what’s the biggie right), but everyone just assumed I knew where I was going to. Well I had no particular plan for my life. I knew I would graduate, work, get married, die. But really is that all there is to life? A lot of people are in this dilemma. They just let life happen to them. Even before I began this journey I knew my life was more than just going to school, getting married, giving birth, taking care of my children, then dying. Yeah I know that’s the basic ingredient of life (for some), but to me that was like raw rice. I needed some ingredients to make it colourful jollof. Fast forward to present. I’m sitting here reading 'Isaiah 41: 10-16'. I heard a message once by Gbile Akanni on that passage; “Fear not I Will Make

Why Praise?

Image
Hello once again. Hope you're having a good day. I'll be telling us today about a preaching I heard from someone. I heard it and I want you to hear it too! It was on provoking the wonders of praise but I'll call it, "why praise ?". Why do we need to praise. Is praise just all about singing and dancing. Why do we need to praise? The mystery of divine presence is the root reason why we praise. Divine Presence is the ability to have God with you 24 hours. You see God does not manifest everywhere. I know  we say God is everywhere but what we are actually saying is: Prov. 15: 3 "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Watching the evil and the good [in all their endeavors]." Jer 16:17 "For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their wickedness concealed from My eyes." 2 Chron 16:9 "For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth so that He may support those whose heart is completely His. You ha
